working on
Below is a list of organizations, endeavors, and movements I am working on in collaboration with many others...
RESTORE Haiti is a collaborative work between Restore Communities, Austin New Church, The River Conference and HELP. Our vision is to "restore the orphan, prevent human slavery, and end cycles of poverty." We are are focusing on ONE main projects - Building Homes: According to the Traffikcing in Persons Report, the cause for vulnerability in the lives of Haitians is lack of housing. So, we figured, we should build houses to remove that layer of vulnerability. If you would like to know more about RESTORE Haiti or how you can be involved, please click HERE.
About a year or so ago we began to ask the question, "what can we do to make the biggest impact in cycles of poverty, human trafficking, and orphan restoration in central texas?" As we began to research and learn from those around us, we came to find out, that foster children, who never get a 'forever-home' and end up aging out into homelessness without ever knowing the reality of family, are more than likely to not just stay in poverty, but repeat the cycle in the children they may have. They are the local orphan population who rarely ever experience restoration to love, family, community, and life. And, they are the population most vulnerable to human trafficking. Our response to this reality, is a home that offers community, family, mentorship, and direction. To learn more about this click HERE.
For those who supported me and Sarah about 5 years ago when we started this journey, ANC is the church, we helped plant about 3+ years ago. While it seems we do a lot, pastoring is my first love, ANC is the place we love to call home, & the people that keeps us grounded. At ANC, I get the opportunity to lead and serve with some of the best men I have ever met, it's like working with a brother hood, and for this I couldn't thank God enough! To know more, click HERE.
I co-founded Restore Communities with Brandon Hatmaker as a result of a common desire to see the church begin to live beyond its own walls for the individual, collective, and social renewal of Austin and beyond. The mission of Restore Communities is to create partnerships locally and abroad for individual, collective, and social renewal. We hope to see this accomplished as we seek to help educate the faith communities on issues of poverty, injustice, and local humanitarian needs; mobilize faith communities to partner with non-profit organizations who are already furthering the mission of mercy, compassion, and justice to humanity; and to become a voice for those who have lost their.
